About Rob

Gerald (Rob) Carter is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist who has worked with children and families since 2012. Rob earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, NJ. Rob is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and the Central Texas Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy.
As a Registered Play Therapist, Rob has specialized training and experience to work with children, adolescents, and adults using play as the primary intervention creating a different experience than traditional talk therapy. Rob uses Adlerian Play Therapy recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA)as an evidence-based treatment. Rob works with adults, teens and children who are experiencing mental health difficulties ranging from depression and anxiety to trauma. He has received additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Rob and his late wife were married for 35 years and have five children, four still living at home, and two grandchildren. They gained lived experience as foster and adoptive parents. Rob is retired from the U.S. Army with overseas assignments in Germany, Iraq and Russia.
Rob accepts Tricare, United Health Plan, BCBS and SWHP. Some evening appointments are available.
